It’s that time of year again. The applications for QMSU Student Elections closed today at 4pm and the nominations were released (see full list below). Candidates will now have reading week to undergo Union propaganda training before they start canvassing for your votes. Voting opens 4th March, but expect to see posters, flyers and the dreaded Facebook invites long before then.
With 54 positions and 16 unfilled, that’s ~30% of positions that no student has applied for. Was this a failing of student engagement or did the union need to do more to publicise elections?
